In a sign that major retailers are looking to clean out their current stock to get ready for the clothing that will be popular during the holidays, a number of clothing stores are putting their summer stock on deep discount so that the trendy dresses worn in the fall and winter can take the stage. Some retailers are marking items down by a significant amount and clothing retailers like The Gap and Talbots are putting clothes on their sales racks for as much as a fifty percent discount in The Gap's case and around a thirty percent discount at Talbots.
