The history of the cigarette is an interesting one and it's generally suggested that cigarettes were first seen in the ninth century in Central America and were not too different from cigars which preceded them. The Maya and the Aztecs were big tobacco smokers, but also indulged in a variety of psychoactive drugs for their religious rituals. Cigarettes have come a long way from these early beginnings and have turned into many things like the modern e cigarette and various types of chewed tobacco. The rolling of tobacco seems to be an ancient art that has turned into a modern popular activity.
