Seeing power lines standing in a row on the side of a highway is certainly nothing out of the ordinary in the twenty-first century, but it is interesting that those voltage transformers perched atop those power lines sometimes pale in comparison to what Mother Nature can inflict on the planet through lightning. The spark of a lightning bolt can be rather intense and typically accompanies thunderstorms or even volcanic eruptions. Lightning can travel at speeds of 220,000 km/h and can reach a temperature of 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Seeing lightning come out of the sky is likely far more entertaining than watching a static power line.
